Many health systems responded to the pandemic by standing up telehealth solutions to meet the immediate need. With the end of the pandemic on the horizon these same health systems are looking at viable long term solutions and strategies to integrate telehealth as part of the normal flow of care.

In this discussion we will look specifically at the architecture and platforms with an eye on scalability, security and integration into the clinical workflow. Bill Russell is CEO of This Week In Health IT, a media channel dedicated to amplifying great thinking to propel healthcare forward for the nextgeneration of health leaders. In the past, he has served on executive teams in healthcare, higher education and Fortune 500 consulting practices. As Chief Information Officer for St. Joseph Health, a 16 hospital $6.5 billion system, he rapidly accelerated the diffusion of new IT strategies and methods, while also enhancing organization stability and improved IT performance. This was accomplished by adopting emerging models like cloud, agile development and investing in two successful startups. On This Week in Health IT, Bill utilizes his experience to prompt leaders, innovators and organizations to share their stories in a conversational style to capture the wisdom of the industry.

Christopher Logan, MBA, CISSP – Director Healthcare Industry Strategy at VMware
Mr. Logan joined VMware in October, 2015, and in his role he is responsible for empowering healthcare organization to achieve their strategic outcomes through the implementation of VMware’s solutions. Mr. Logan most recently was the Chief Information Security Officer for Care New England Health System located in Providence, RI, where his role was providing security and technology leadership and enabling positive business outcomes for the organization and its partners.

Mr. Logan has been in the IT community for 25 years where his main focus has been delivering technology leadership in both an operational and strategic capacity, spanning both public and private sector organizations. He has also worked in both security and technology leadership roles at Lifespan Corporation, Century Bank, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and he served in the United States Marine Corps. Chris was also a professor at Providence College in their graduate school of business, where he provided instruction to graduate students on the management of information technology and operations and service management. He holds multiple industry certifications which include the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credential from the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium as well as an MBA from Bryant University. He is also a board member for Association for Executives in Health Information Security (AEHIS).

Mr. Logan has assisted the organizations he has served by architecting systems and solutions that address their strategic, financial and operational objectives. He has extensive leadership experience in the areas of information security, privacy, compliance, continuity planning, standards adoption and implementation, vendor management and IT leadership. He is a past advisory board member for multiple technology solution providers and is a frequent speaker on topics related to technology modernization, leadership and information security and privacy.
