The Future Site of Care is Anywhere
We are moving to a future where the site of care is anywhere. Today, I am excited to introduce Health Anywhere, an initiative that serves as an umbrella for various care modalities, including remote physiological monitoring, remote health, home-based care, asynchronous care, and the facilitation of preventative, continuous, and coordinated care across multiple settings. This pioneering work aims to seamlessly integrate digital care into existing delivery models, enabling healthcare to expand beyond the walls of our delivery organizations.
This initiative is the result of close collaboration with our esteemed health system partners—Intermountain Health, MedStar Health, OSF HealthCare, Stanford Health, and WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital—whose expertise has been instrumental in defining Health Anywhere and the work ahead of us.
As our healthcare ecosystem rapidly evolves, services are no longer confined to the traditional walls of hospitals and clinics. With technological advancements and changing reimbursement models, healthcare is transitioning from a one-to-one patient-to-provider model to a many-to-many approach. Patients are seeking more mobile-friendly options, and digital connections have emerged as the new frontier for delivering these services. This shift toward providing care outside conventional settings—ranging from virtual clinician consultations and subacute rehabilitation to home-based enteral nutrition, group care, lab testing, and continuous monitoring of chronic conditions—marks a new paradigm where digital options, in some cases, serve as a bridge between in-person visits.
Launching Health Anywhere at the 2024 Insights Summit
The work on Health Anywhere will continue in Texas this November at the 2024 Health Anywhere Insights Summit where we will be showcasing successful strategies and programs and addressing challenges like reimbursement structures. We are proud to have our co-chairs, Sarah Pletcher, MD, System Vice President and Executive Medical Director for Strategic Innovation at Houston Methodist Health System, and Carrie Nixon, Esq., Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Nixon Gwilt Law leading this summit.
The summit will bring together industry leaders, innovators, and our valued partners to explore how this new model can evolve, impact, and innovate care delivery.
We are all inspired by the ongoing work in our industry as we take this significant step toward a more connected and accessible healthcare ecosystem. Thank you to our health system partners for their collaboration in shaping Health Anywhere and the modalities it encompasses. We look forward to seeing you all in November for our two industry-defining events: the Health Anywhere Summit and the second annual Virtual Nursing Insights Summit.
