THE ATA ANNOUNCES FOUR NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Adding Managed Care Executives and Leading Telehealth Service Providers; Dr. Joe Kvedar, Partners HealthCare, Recently Named President-elect
WASHINGTON, DC, October 28, 2019 — The ATA, the premier organization working to accelerate the adoption of telehealth, today announced the addition of four new Board members, bringing deep experience in managed care and virtual care technologies.
The ATA also recently announced that telehealth pioneer and visionary, Joseph C. Kvedar, MD, Vice President, Connected Health, Partners HealthCare, and Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School, has re-joined the ATA as President-elect. Dr. Kvedar previously served as President of the ATA from 2004-2005, and was a member of the Board of Directors from 2002-2006. He will become President in April 2020, succeeding John Glaser, PhD, Executive Senior Advisor, Cerner, who will become Immediate Past President.
“The ATA has a renewed approach and a clear vision, to integrate virtual care into emerging value-based delivery models, focusing on the whole patient and collaboration between care settings. Telehealth offerings perfectly align with these new models, extending capacity and access to personalized, quality care, where and when the patient needs it,” said Dr. Kvedar.
Also joining the ATA Board of Directors:
Michael Baird is President of Customer Solutions at American Well. Previously, he was co-founder and CEO of Avizia, an acute care telemedicine company that powered hundreds of hospitals and health systems. American Well acquired Avizia in 2018, expanding the capabilities and footprint of American Well. Mike’s passion and focus is to help healthcare organizations of all sizes to leverage technology to advance care access, efficiency, cost, quality and experience. Mike advises several health IT startups and serves as a Venture Partner at Waterline Ventures. Prior to American Well, Mike held senior positions at Tandberg, Cisco, McKinsey & Company and Dell.
Joseph M. DeVivo, CEO of InTouch Health, has a proven track record of 30 years of extensive business leadership and 25 years of medical device experience, from small startups to major corporations. Prior to joining InTouch Health, Joe was President, CEO and Director at Angiodynamics; Global President, Smith & Nephew Orthopedics; President, CEO and Director, RITA Medical Systems, Inc.; President and COO, Computer Motion Inc.; and Vice President, General Manager, U.S. Surgical/Davis, a division of Tyco International’s Healthcare Business.
Andrea Gelzer, MD, is Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs at AmeriHealth Caritas, a Medicaid and Medicare managed care organization. Prior, she was CMO for Boston Medical Center HealthNet Plan,
the largest Medicaid and Commonwealth Care managed care organization in Massachusetts. She also served in multiple roles at Cigna Corporation, and for 12+ years worked in private practice in Internal Medicine. She is a pioneer in the development of provider organizations and health information exchanges.
Yasmine Winkler is the former CEO of UnitedHealthcare Community & State’s Central Region, and also served as the Community & State division’s chief consumer officer. There, she proposed and established Net Promoter Score (NPS) as a fundamental metric in measuring consumer satisfaction and helped to implement the inclusive delivery model for social services. Prior, Yasmine was the Chief Marketing, Product and Innovation Officer for UnitedHealthcare’s Employer & Individual division, where she launched new capabilities and products that modernized how consumers interact with insurance. She held multiple roles at HCSC and has 35 years’ experience in the health insurance industry.
The ATA also recently appointed two new Board members: Elizabeth Bierbower, Segment President at Humana; and Robin Glasco, Co-founder and Managing Partner at Bambü Global Healthcare Advisors.
