Teladoc Health and Becker’s Hospital Review
2020 Telehealth Benchmark Survey
92% of hospitals and health systems had telehealth programs in place or near-term implementation plans at the start of 2020.
The 2020 Telehealth Benchmark Survey, conducted in association with Becker’s Hospital Review and Teladoc Health, gives a holistic industry snapshot of virtual care. With survey responses fielded in late 2019 – right before the pandemic – combined with additional responses to a follow-up survey in the summer of 2020, this year’s report provides insights into how the pandemic has impacted hospital and health systems’ virtual care strategies.
Highlights of the study include:
- 94% of respondents indicate telehealth is a long-term strategy beyond COVID-19 – a 23% increase since 2019
- 77% of providers view physician buy-in as a key to telehealth success, followed by adoption at 64%
- 71% of providers rank telehealth as a high priority for their organization compared to 59% in 2019
