Collaborate With the ATA on Research
The ATA is dedicated to advancing knowledge, innovation, and expanding access to quality care using technology-enabled care. Research is a fundamental driving force behind these goals as it serves as a systematic exploration aimed at uncovering new insights, challenging existing paradigms, and solving complex problems. The ATA is interested in collaborating on these endeavors.
Why Collaborate With Us?
Being a national association that includes more than 400 organizations focused on transforming healthcare through enhanced, efficient delivery, the ATA is well positioned to engage in research. Our team has an expansive network and expertise in a wide range of subjects and telehealth modalities as well as policy knowledge.
Access to Resources. By joining forces, we can combine resources and undertake projects to enhance learning. Knowledge, data, relationships, and convening abilities are a few examples of resources the ATA can contribute to projects.
Expertise. Our team and membership comprise experts with diverse backgrounds and skill sets, providing a rich environment for interdisciplinary collaboration. Our extensive unique perspective and expertise contribute valuable insights to our research initiatives.

Dissemination Capabilities. The ATA uses multiple communication channels to disseminate information and has an extensive reach. This includes our two annual conferences (EDGE and NEXUS) as well as our summits.
What Does Collaboration Look Like?
The ATA will collaborate on writing/reviewing proposals if included as a partnering agency or join existing funded telehealth projects.
Some of the roles that we can fill include:
- Advisory board participation
- Project management
- Writing literature reviews
- Institutional Review Board applications and compliance monitoring
- Qualitative and quantitative primary and secondary data collection
- Data analysis and visualization
- Report writing
- Dissemination of findings
The ATA reserves the right to not participate in research or research-related activities that do not align with our philosophies or on a topic that we deem to be sensitive. We also do not engage in vendor-funded research.

Our Research Director, Dr. Lois Ritter
Dr. Ritter began working in telehealth in the early 2000s, and she also has extensive experience in public health. She has worked on regional and national studies funded by foundations, private organizations, and federal and state government agencies. These multi-year and multi-site projects have included mixed-methods research designs where she developed and implemented studies, analyzed the data, and disseminated the findings. She is a published author and has presented at international, national, and regional conferences. She also sits on multiple advisory boards. She has earned her Doctorate in Education, three masters degrees, and multiple certifications.
