Dr. Greg Weidner is a physician innovator and experienced healthcare transformation leader. Greg currently serves as the Senior Medical Director, Virtual Care and Vice President, Care Model Innovation at Amazon One Medical. He is a member of the inaugural American Telemedicine Association Clinician Council and is passionate about leveraging technology and design to engage patients, foster healing relationships, and enable new models of team-based healthcare delivery.
Greg received his BA with distinction from Cornell University, and graduated AOA from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. He trained as Resident and Chief Medical Resident in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine and is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians.
Prior to his current role, Greg served as Chief Medical Officer for Carium, a virtual care management platform; and previously for 25 years as a practicing internist and Medical Director of Primary Care Innovation and Proactive Health at Atrium Health in Charlotte. Dr. Weidner has been recognized on numerous Best Doctor lists by Charlotte magazine, Charlotte Business Journal and North Carolina Business Journal. He received the Carolinas HealthCare System Caduceus Award for Physician Leadership in 2012 and was a Carolinas HealthCare System Teal Acorn Award Nominee for Innovator of the Year in 2017. He was twice nominated for Charlotte Business Journal Excellence in Healthcare awards for his leadership in innovating healthcare.
Greg has spoken frequently and contributed to publications about digital health, healthcare transformation and patient engagement; and has served as a National Guest Scholar and Expert Mentor for the Stanford Clinical Excellence Research Center fellowship.
