THE ATA ANNOUNCES FIVE NEW BOARD MEMBERS, EACH AT THE FOREFRONT OF HEALTHCARE TRANSFORMATION, WITH DIVERSE MARKET PERSPECTIVES AND EXPERTISE
WASHINGTON, DC, APRIL 21, 2022 – The American Telemedicine Association (ATA) today announced the addition of five new Directors, reflecting the expanding universe of today’s telehealth market, and adding senior-level clinical and business expertise to further strengthen a dynamic and highly talented Board of Directors. The ATA is pleased to announce the following new Directors joining the Board: Mujadala (MJ) Abdul-Majid, Meta; Tania Elliott, MD, FAAAAI, FACAAI, Ascension; Julian Harris, MD, MBA, ConcertoCare; Nathaniel (Nate) Lacktman, Foley & Lardner; and Darshak Sanghavi, MD, Babylon.

Joining the ATA Board of Directors:
Mujadala (MJ) Abdul-Majid is an Associate General Counsel at Meta, helping to build social value through how individuals connect to one another. Prior to joining Meta, she was a Director at Ro, and the head of Amazon’s Regulatory Intelligence, Compliance, and Engagement team. Passionate about the intersection of law, technology, and healthcare, MJ served on the biomedical research committee of Georgetown University Medical Center’s Institutional Review Board and was a regulatory attorney with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, where she focused on regulatory policy development, compliance, and enforcement in the agency’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. She holds a master’s in Biotechnology with a concentration in Bioinformatics and has lectured, presented, and authored publications on topics such as regulatory oversight and legislative developments affecting healthcare product development and access to medicine.
Tania Elliott, MD, FAAAAI, FACAAI, is Chief Medical Officer, Virtual Care and Vice President, Clinical and Network Services at Ascension, leading virtual care services inclusive of inpatient and ambulatory telehealth and remote patient monitoring, and innovative care models including hospital care at home and integration of behavioral health services into primary care through collaborative care (CoCM). Previously, she served as a clinical solutions medical director at Aetna, a CVS company, supporting development of the virtuary primary care, women’s health, cardiovascular disease portfolios and driving equitable telehealth reimbursement, and as medical director of doctor on demand (now Included health), where she was responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and clinical quality for a 49 state virtual physician network. She currently chairs the Telemedicine and Technology Taskforce for The American College of Allergy Asthma and Immunology, is a mentor for Stanford University’s Masters in Clinical Informatics Management Program, and a senior fellow for the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies.
Julian Harris, MD, MBA, is Chairman & CEO of ConcertoCare, a tech-enabled, value-based provider of at-home, comprehensive care for seniors and other adults with unmet health and social needs. Previously, he served as president of CareAllies, a group of Cigna-affiliated population health management and home-based primary care companies. Earlier at Cigna, he managed internal investments in technology and innovation. Before joining Cigna, he served as an adviser to Google Ventures. He also led the healthcare team in the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB), where oversaw $1 trillion in spending and provided management and policy oversight for a range of programs, including Medicare, Medicaid and the CMS Innovation Center. Prior, Harris served as chief executive of the Massachusetts Medicaid program. He is an alumnus of the Wharton School of Business and the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where he serves as an adjunct professor. He is also an operating partner on the healthcare services and technology team at Deerfield.
Nathaniel (Nate) Lacktman is a Partner and Chair of the Telemedicine & Digital Health Industry Team at Foley & Lardner, where he advises entrepreneurial healthcare providers and technology companies on business arrangements, compliance, and corporate matters in telemedicine, digital health, remote patient monitoring, and click-and-mortar services. Nate is a past recipient of the ATA’s Champion Award, which recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to advocate for public policy changes that open payment support and provide regulatory pathways for telemedicine and digital health. He has served on the ATA’s Policy Council and is former Chair of the ATA’s Business & Policy Special Interest Group. Nate was a member of the American Board of Telehealth’s inaugural advisory board.
Darshak Sanghavi, MD, is Global Chief Medical Officer for Babylon. He is the former Chief Medical Officer of UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare & Retirement, the largest U.S. commercial Medicare program with over $90B in annual revenue, where he oversaw all major national clinical and affordability programs. Earlier, he was Chief Medical Officer at OptumLabs, running a large portfolio of industry-leading projects with dozens of academic, government, and industry partners. He was also a member of the Obama administration as the Director of Preventive and Population Health at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, where he directed the development of large pilot programs aimed at improving the nation’s health care costs and quality. In this capacity, Dr Sanghavi was the architect of numerous initiatives, including the $157 million Accountable Health Communities model, the three million member Million Hearts Cardiovascular Risk Reduction model, and the $1 billion Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program.
