Army Telemedicine Partnerships in 2007
Meeting Medical Challenges in a Changing World
Topic: Hospital of the Future

The U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, (USAMRMC) through its Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) will once again sponsor an open, one-day meeting exploring the potential applications of technology and innovation, which could be utilized in the future hospitals or have an impact on how future hospitals are designed. The theme of this one-day meeting is "Hospital of the Future".  Specific topic areas will include future imaging, operating room of the future, patient safety, and informatics. Presentations of these innovative technology efforts by Army managed investigators will be accompanied by presentations from international experts focusing on innovative technologies which will enable healthcare providers to provide the best and safest care possible to our military and civilian patient population.  A separate, advanced registration fee of $100 is required. Office for the Advancement of Telehealth (OAT) Grantee Meeting

The Office for the Advancement of Telehealth (OAT) serves as a focal point for telehealth activities within the DHHS Health Resources and Services Administration.  OAT promotes the adoption of advanced technologies to provide health care services and education for the underserved.  During the ATA Annual Meeting, current and former grantees of the OAT’s Rural Telemedicine Grant Program will gather to discuss the program and other issues related to telehealth.  This meeting is intended for current and former OAT grantees only.  Registration is not required. Appalachian Regional Commission Telemedicine / Telehealth Programs

The ARC serves 412 counties in parts of 12 states including: AL, GA, KY, MD, MS, NY, NC, OH, PA, SC, TN, VA and all of West Virginia.  Potential grantees are invited to attend this discussion of the ARC’s current telemedicine / telehealth program, and learn more about the possibilities of using ARC funds to match other federal grant programs and how to apply for funding.  Registration is not required. 5th Annual UPMC Innovative Medical and Information Technologies (IMITs) Center Symposium

This forum is sponsored by The UPMC Innovative Medical and Information Technologies (IMITs) Center, a world renowned leader in healthcare research and development of innovative information technologies with advanced clinical treatment initiatives. This year’s symposium is structured on advancing battlefield medicine applications and management of clinical programs with dual benefit: the military member and their families, with crossover clinical utilization in civilian populations and the national healthcare scene.  Speakers will brief attendees on past outcomes of IMITs Center’s programs, current challenges, and plans for future achievements.  A separate registration fee of $75 is required (a complimentary continental breakfast and lunch are included in this fee.) Third Annual Mobile Health Clinics Forum
Outreach & Collaboration: Shaping the Future of Mobile Healthcare

Sunday, May 13 – Tuesday, May 15

This innovative conference is presented by the Mobile Health Clinics Network (MHCN)in partnership with the American Telemedicine Association.  MHCN is a nationwide membership-based association of medical and oral health professionals who provide healthcare services, with a special emphasis on underserved populations, from Mobile Health clinics.  Forum co-sponsors include Delta Dental of California, Friends of the Congressional Glaucoma Caucus Foundation, National Healthcare for the Homeless Council, and the Washington Dental Service Foundation.  The Forum curriculum will focus on the pragmatic and complex issues of developing, operating, and sustaining a Mobile Health program.  Speakers will offer paradigms and “how-to” strategies complemented by roundtable discussions to encourage delegate interaction.  Sessions will be structured around four Mobile Health discipline tracks: Mammography, Oral Healthcare, Primary Care, and Specialty Care.  Keynote speakers include Dr. Ray Stewart, Community Oral Health Services (Salinas, CA), Dr. Anu McDonald, Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children’s Hospital (Austin, TX), and Dr. Eric Whitaker, Director of the Illinois Public Health Department.   For more information, please contact Darien DeLorenzo, (415) 863-2032, Mobilehealthcare@aol.com.
